Modern Day Slavery

       Back then slavery was a huge issue that people had dealt with in their time. To this day people are still dealing with slavery and human trafficking. January 2012 Barack Obama had declared that this month was the National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. He feels that it is a huge crime to this world. He says that it is a crime with no borders, it operates both domestically and trans-nationally. He knows how it affects women, children and men of all ages are victims of this horrible crime. He has people all around the world monitoring the progress of governments in combating trafficking. While doing this, they are supporting programs that are aimed at its eradication. He wants us people as Americans to have ourselves forging robust international partnerships which strengthen global anti-trafficking efforts. 

What is slavery you may ask? Slavery is a forced labor, bonded labor, slaves, human trafficking. All of this can explain to you what slavery is. Human Trafficking is the recruitment of a person by such means as threat or use of force or other forms of abduction. Chattel Slavery is a slavery system in which people are the property of others. They have slaves which can be held against their will from the other of their capture.                
         Chocolate is everyone's favorite thing to snack on throughout their life. But for some people chocolate is the reason why the are being enslaved. The chocolate starts at a plant in a West African cocoa plantation, children are normally the ones who harvest this. Many of these children are slaves to this system and produce this chocolate which we enjoy everyday of our life. There is an estimate of 100,000 children working the fields. Many countries who are against their will, to create this chocolate for everyone in American to enjoy. This is not right at all and everyone is trying to help and succeed into stopping this horrible thing.

 There are 10 facts listed on this side, in which i feel that they are all important, but there are three important ones. My opinion i feel that numbers 5, 2 and number 10 are important. Number 5 speaks about how each year there are thousands of slaves who are trafficked into the US these slaves need to be set free, and not put into work for no pay. Number 2 tells people how many slaves are in the world which states that there are 27 million, this number needs to be brought down to zero. Fact number 10 speaks about we as Americans can stop modern day slavery. If we all really tried to work together on ending it we could. Everyone has their own role to stop it.
